Sam's stitches came out...10/14/09
Today was the kids last day for their H1N1 Flu study. Their appointment was at 7 am... Do you have any idea how hard it is to get me and two kids up and out the door by 6:30? Ugh... Not fun... Any who... Sam has a phobia of doctors offices and people in scrubs. Poor kid has been to so many doc's and he has been poked so many times he cries every time.
Well needless to say his little adventure of getting stitches didn't help the matter. So after his appointment where he had blood drawn... He needed to get his stitches out. Poor little man screamed at the top of his lungs... tears streaming down his cheeks. I was holding his hands, and feet, the nurse was holding his head and the Doc was removing the stitches... As soon as they were finished, Sam sat up, huge grin on his face, tears still falling, and said My Done! My Done! And after a sucker, he was happy as a clam...
I wish a sucker made everything all better still...

Halloween Costumes 10/10/09
Who knew that picking a Halloween Costume would be such a process. They had some of the craziest costumes I have ever seen for little boys.... like the UPS man? A Garden Nome? Seriously? What happened to cowboys and ghosts? For Sam we ended up picking a pirate, it is going to be a little big but still will be cute...
The sword we got for him he had so much fun with, that about 10 minutes after we got it home, he had chopped everything in the house including the sword... So this little pirate will be going without one... (mean mom refuses to buy another one)

Emily.... She is a bit harder, she could be anything! There were rows of options... but what does she pick? Cinderella...
of course it is very cute, but she has had some kind of princess/ballerina theme every year... So I made a deal with her... If she was a pirate girl for Halloween,
I would get her the Cinderella dress to play dress up in. After many tears and pleading of "But mommy, I have been waiting my WHOLE life to be Cinderella" we agreed... They will make adorable pirate kids... Whether they want to or not! HA HA... Yes Mom pulled Rank....some times ya just have to....But just to everyone knows, after thinking it over, Emily has decided that a pirate parade wouldn't be so bad... she even has Grandma talked into being a pirate.

Sam's new battle scar... October 8, 2009
Yesterday Sam got in his first official fight.... He and the fireplace went only 1 round... and sadly Sam lost... The kids and I were home, making a gourmet dinner of Mac'n Cheese... when that mean fireplace called Sam out... He couldn't let the call go un-challenged so he took it on... Well... Maybe Sam should learn a few more Super hero skills first... there were only two hits... Sam hitting the fire place and Sam hitting the floor... Needless to say, Mom got a little frantic... blood everywhere. We left for the E.R. right away... lights on, TV on, no shoes for Sam...but we made it. Daddy and Uncle Brian met us at the hospital, they were up on the mountain looking for deer to hunt next week.
Sam is a happy camper now that no one is touching him, and he has numbing medicine on his chin and cars to play with.
Sam not so happy after they gave him some sedation nose spray and laid him down on the table...
The Doc starting the stitches, Sam screamed at the top of his lungs for most of it.

The second dose of Sedation nose spray... Sam finally gave in to the drugs and exhaustion... He needed a bit of Oxygen to keep his saturation levels high
Sam finished with his stitches and sleeping away... 11 stitches in all, a layer of deep stitches and then the layer to close the skin... He was a fighter, but a really good sport. And the best part is, he really doesn't remember much this morning. He is still sleepy and of course it still is very tender but good as new..
Special thanks to Brian for taking care of Emily while we waited with Sam. As well as all the Doc's and Nurses at PCMC for their patients and care of our little man!

Emily's first Acting Class 10/03/09
Saturday was Emily's first acting class. She was so excited until we got there and she realized she didn't know anyone. Then the personality that normally oozes from every pore, shut off... Their first task was to "slate" their names. For those of you who don't know show biz lingo, (including me) this means in an audition you state your name, age, and which agency you are with. Emily was having NO part in that. So Rob the teacher who was super nice, let her have a bi- for the week. She managed after about 15 minutes to make a few new friends and I am sure that by next week, her personality will begin to shine again.
Great Job Emily! I am super proud of you!
